It's alive!

After starting the sketch back in October and weeks of marker drawing I have finally finished my Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's monster.
Got fed up of seeing this one so I'm finding it hard to decide if I'm happy with it or not. Also some work in progress photos, shocking quality but they were taken at night as I tend to do most of my drawing in the midnight hours...rather fitting for this piece!

yeah check out my cool cat lap tray :P

Funny angle but you get the idea.

Have started work on a A3 piece now that I want to try in colour rather than grey tones. It's going to take forever!

Family traits

Sorry I didn't manage to get any art done this week. Thought instead I would show you a couple of pictures of my Dads artwork I took while visiting over Christmas. Artistic talent runs in my family, my Dad does amazing detailed work. The pictures were taken of framed drawings so apologies they look a little warped from the angle & glass.

This is a lynx made up of tiny dots. I've seen him draw one of these before on my computer, no pre sketching just straight to dots!

Tiger pencil drawing. I wish I had of taken more pictures of his work but the light was fading, maybe I can get him to scan some work in.

My mum is also a talented seamstress and used to make her own clothes when she was younger, She even made the bridesmaids dresses for my brothers wedding. Sadly it's not a talent I gained, although I can sew and make plushes when it comes to clothing I can't sew a stitch.

A Doll's life

Hello! Bit of an early update this week because I plan to busy tomorrow & then do lots resting over the weekend, why you may ask? Well it's my 26th birthday tomorrow, scary stuff this getting older business. Birthdays are always a bit of a mixed bag for me as it feels like my life has been on hold since becoming too ill to work back when I was 19. I never thought I would still be waiting to get better by the time my 26th birthday rolled around. But I try to remain positive, maybe this year will be the start of recovery. And of course on the other hand, yay present day!

I am working on a marker drawing at the moment of Boris Karloff as Frankensteins monster. I've had the sketch finished since October. Hopefully I will have it finished and ready to show you all by my next blog update.

What I do have to show you today is the dolls I made for two of my friends as Christmas presents. I am really pleased with how they both came out and when the sewing bug strikes again I think I will turn a few more friends into doll form. All is hand sewn and made with felt.

vix doll
This is the dollie of my friend Vix. She's a photographer hence the little camera, you can checkout her work here. Wednesday Addams Photography.

Sophie doll
And this is the dollie of my friend Sophie. She is also an artist that makes the most amazing alternative jewellery and accessories. You can follow her page here, Sophie Adamson Art & Accessories.

That's me done for another week, hope you enjoyed the post :)
