Christmas Eve!

Yay one more sleep till Christmas day...presents! I hope you all have a lovely day whatever your plans are.

I did end up making my own Christmas cards with the sewn decorations hanging in the middle. Never again though! hehe, honestly I am so bad at paper craft it took me forever to make each card. And being a bit of a ninny I forgot to take any photos of them before I posted them all out. But some people have kindly taken photos for me, so if I get enough I will post them on here.

I've been having a break for Christmas themed art and finally broke in my Moleskine sketchbook. I've been watching Tenchi lately so I have a lot of anime sketches to show you. There's something very relaxing in just drawing fan art sketches.

But before that enjoy some Christmasy photos!

Tinsel :D

Pete makes a good tree!

Even Suki joined in.

Had one of my best buddies round, Amy for some xmas crafting and sweetie eating!

Ok now onto the sketches!

Lots of cabbits, can never have enough cabbits.

My Moleskine paper did not like the marker pens much.

Lastly more Tenchi girls and Kiki's delivery service.

See you after Christmas, hope you all have a wonderful holiday :D

More xmas crafting!

I have been crafting non-stop this week and have more tree hanging decorations to show.
These ones took a lot longer to make than the present shaped ones because of all the little bead details. It's slow going work & I keep stabbing my finger with the needle but I think they are worth it hehe.

A mix of gold, red and silver beads.

I really like these Icy coloured ones, they have turquoise backs to them. Unfortunately I have run out of black & white cotton those only six so far.

I've had an idea to turn these into cards. Bought cards are always expensive so I don't think it'll be much difference in price. I have done a couple of test runs that I will show a sneaky peek of in a sec. They are a bit plain at the moment so maybe some glitter? I will raid the craft stores tomorrow for supplies and hopefully get some more ideas.
There is only a limited number of these cards I can make in time for Christmas so some people might just get normal cards from me, but all those who normally get presents off me will have one. If Pete likes them enough I'll put some aside for his family too.

I have taped the decoration to the inside of the card with masking tape so that when people are finished with the card (or straight away if they wish) they can take it off and hang it on their tree's.

Right back to sewing!

Xmas crafting

I am trying to get into the festive mood early this year as I always feel it goes by too quickly. As most of you already know I am unable to work due to illness, so money wise it makes xmas a little tight. So to help out I try and make little gifts every year for friends.

This year I am working on some tree hanging decorations. Hopefully they will like these!
Little wrapped presents. All hand sewn with felt. You can't see in this picture but the backs are a mix of glittery red & green felt. Sewing little hearts on the tags was tricky but I really like it.

I am working on some Christmas tree shaped ones now and hope to do a couple more designs.
I am thinking of doing a give away on my facebook art page for some of the new ones if I have any left over.

Do you remember my Snowmen & Gingerbread men from a couple of years back?

I will leave you with a few silly pictures.

I love craft supplies!

Suki always loves to help ;)

Yay xmas jumper!

Bye for now!

Gentlemen start your engines

And may the best woman win! Ah I love RuPaul's Drag Race. Those girls are sickening! ;)
I felt like drawing something a little different after the Halloween theme and failing to colour the corpse bride. So drag queens is it and one of my many favourites from the show is Manila Luzon
I had one disaster after another with this picture but I think I managed to pull it together in the end. Seriously I could of cried the amount of times I made a mistake or something went wrong, like the nice pale green pen I was using to colour the background running out on me! Hence the rather dark green background in the finished picture.
But I got there in the end and I hope you all like it. She's not the last drag queen you'll see from me. I am already working on the queen of them all, Divine.

As this was an A3 sized drawing I had to take a photo rather than scan. Some colour is lost in the face shading but as you know by now, me and photoshop don't get on and this was the best I could do.

As always here's some work in progress photos. Poor lighting as most of my drawing is done in the wee small hours.

It didn't help that I've got a nasty cold right now and was trying not to sneeze over my work!

I shall leave you with Rupaul's ending quote
, "If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love someone else?"

Sparkle Sparkle!

I am at a bit of a loss without my beloved grey marker pens. I've been trying my hand at pencil & colour pencil work but I just can't get my head into it. Hopefully I will be able to order some marker refills this week and back to being a doodlebug!

This weekend was bonfire night and I went to family firework display. Now I am a big wimp when it comes so fireworks, they have always given me the hibbie-jibbies. But I sucked it up and played with some sparklers! These aren't the best photos but I thought they were pretty enough to share.

Ok it's a little late but I hope you all had a very spooky Halloween! Although I have been working on a drawing of the corpse bride, it is no where near finished and to be honest it might never be as I am not happy with it all. I really need to get my hands on a decent set of coloured pencils.

I had a few friends come over for some spooky fun so I wanted to make an effort this year with the decorations.

Halloween 2012
I love showing off my spooky toys...although they are on show all year round just in different places hehe.

Greta Gremlin

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a nice Sunday. I have my finished coloured illustration of Greta Gremlin from the Gremlins II to show you. I always find using the coloured markers more tricky than grey tones, there's so much more that can go wrong. I almost gave up on this one a couple of times but glad I stuck with it in the end as I have received some lovely compliments on FB and Tumblr.

Greta Gremlin

I used a mix of tria, promarkers and a few coloured pencils. I really need to get a better set of coloured pencils, I'm just using an old WHSmiths set.

I've been trying to find a good photo of Gizmo to work from but not having much luck.
I really should make a start on Christmas present projects soon, it's come around so quickly! Anyway that's all for today, bye!

Pretty as a picture!

See I promised I would be back soon. Breaking away from my spooky Halloween theme, I have a drawing of my friend to share with you all.

I am really please with this one. Plus it didn't take me too long to finish. Not only beautiful, my friend is a very talented photographer. Please check out her photo page on facebook.

Only a couple of work in progress photos this time.

Sadly my grey Tria markers have run out now so I have to wait till I can order some refills before I can draw any more grey portraits.

The Exorcist

Hello, I'm back and this time with some art to show you. Did you miss me? I've been a busy bee the last two weeks and finally broke out of my art block.
As it's October I thought I would draw something spooky in time for Halloween. One of the first horror movies I bought on VHS was The Exorcist. I hope you like my marker pen version of the little possessed girl.

Had a little difficulty with the hair in this one and as always in the scanning, trying to get the colours to match the original.

Some work in progress photos for you. Sorry about the terrible lighting, I really need to get a new bulb for the broken lamp!

 WIP 2

I have another drawing already finished but I have yet to scan that in. I hate using my scanner, I can never get the settings right. Plus I am working on a coloured drawing as my beloved Tria grey pens are running out. Thankfully they do refills!

I can't remember if I told you before but I have a facebook page of my finished art works,

Hope you enjoyed my post, I will be seeing you all again soon!

Precious stone collection

I am sorry that is has been such a long time since my last update. Sadly I am suck in a nasty art block at the moment so have no new artwork to show you.
Instead I thought I would share with you some of the pretty things in my home.

Percious Stones

I’ve had this beauties for years but they are a bit awkward to display. I came across a little specimen type jar in town today, perfect! I want to find a larger jar to store my plastic brain in. I also have some small minerals rocks that I should get another jar for.

gem jar

They can now sit happily on my bookcase.

I also have these, I love the black stone as it has a little creature in it :)

I really want to get some natural history objects. I would love to have Victorian taxidermy and framed butterflies and insects.
Hope you enjoyed this post, I'll try not to leave it so long next time!

Hello all, I have something a bit more exciting to show you this week. I managed to make my first time lapse video of me drawing the picture below. I have to admit it was a pain setting up the camera and having to stop every time the battery run out. Don't even get me started on the editing process! Apart from all that I am pleased with the finished video, I plan to do more in the future and hopefully get better a the camera angle etc.

I have also set up a Facebook page for my artwork in case anyone is interested in taking a peak at some recent and older work.!/SarahDicksonArt

Louise with her amazing hair is a facebook friend who kindly volunteered for my coloured marker practice.

The time lapse video, please excuse my array of jim jam tops!

Those who don't want to view the video, here is a couple of work in progress photos.
